First born settling in just fine

August 25, 2011

Today was the first trial at the local nursery.  No1 child woke up asking when he was going, cried when he discovered it wasn’t until mid-morning, and almost cried when i went to pick him up.  Back again tomorrow, and then next week in earnest.  Like a duck to water, he’s back in his element.  Not that spending time with us is boring or anything.  Obviously.  Eh.  But, as they say, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander, so bring it on.

Scandinavian minimalism is much overated

In the meantime our house has been colonised.  The playroom is spreading, and after his birthday i fear for the rest of the house.  Enforcement of tidy-up-time is going to become a military style operation, especially if i’m ever to actually hoover and dust.  Be warned visitors with kids – at 6pm on the dot every day all the toys will need to be returned to their homes (or at least shut in the playroom) so that the house can be ours in the evening and we can enjoy ourselves without the painful reminder of the existence of children (stepping on sticklebricks/small toys/lego etc etc).  Mind you, i say that now, let’s see how we cope with the Turners first…i know that Miles will be onboard with tidy-up-time, can’t imagine that The Cousin allows any shit in her house!!!
