Ironbridge

August 28, 2011

We ventured out today, for our first bit of real sight seeing (removing our battersea parking permit as we did so, not wanting to be taken for common or garden tourists), 18 miles NE of us, along a beautiful B road, past Attingham Park (note to self to change Tate membership for National Trust, god am old), past the eyesore that is the Ironbridge Cooling Station (it is the home of the industrial revolution after all), and into the amazingly quaint gorge.

Predictably the only place to park was next to the church

The Eon cooling plant's round the corner...

There’s 10 museums, though embarrassingly we didn’t venture into any one of them.  Am assuming that this is a place that we can come back to, and take time to discover it bit by bit, rather than gorge ourselves…though we did manage to do some of that too.

Yes, it's all very pretty and that, but what's for lunch?

Now this is what i'm talkin' about
